Ever come across a serious news report that is as hillarious as watching Kung Pow? I just did.

MALAYSIA's Information Minister Zainuddin Mydin has said that the government will not be affected by blogs and other Internet forums that may be created during campaigning for the upcoming elections.

Mr Zainuddin insisted that while the younger generation are tech-savvy, they tend to believe newspaper reports over comments made on the Internet, China Press reported.

He added that the Internet is used mainly to book budget airline tickets or to get entertainment news.

He claimed that he is not worried that blogs and forums critical of the incumbent Barisan Nasional coalition would affect its chances of winning the election.

Somebody shoould tell the old man that the internet is also used to surf porn, and Facebook, though some people still stick to Friendster and Myspace.

Come to think of it, this comes straight from the Minister of Information. Oh for the love of mother nature! If I was one of the reporters there, I bet I would not be able to put up a straightface after hearing those comments. God have mercy on my country!

  1. Hey Benjamin!

I'm back from the dead. I know, all of a sudden, right? :P

Have not read your blog for a long time now. I really should link you so I can remember to slip by during those luxurious intervals of leisure. Yup, college life is taxing! Assignments and tonnes of it. And it's just the fourth (coming fifth) week on.

Anyway back to your post. I'm glad that Zam is no more. I am honestly embarrassed to have him as our Information Minister. Such an important post summore. The new one seems promising; he recognises the importance of bloggers and internet news.

In my head I'm screaming: What took them so long to realise that?

Sometimes I wonder if the govt has been underestimating the intelligence of the rakyat all this while. Indeed, the rakyat has spoken on March 8. Katak di bawah tempurung manifested. However eventhough the epiphany on the govt's behalf came a little belatedly, it's still worth the welcome. All the best with the new Information Minister.

Question of late is: Will we catch Pak Lah sleeping in the parliament again?

Possible answer: I don't think so, at least not in the meantime; the denial of BN's 2/3 majority was enough to jolt him awake!

  2. Nicely put there. Yeah, I was extremely joyous when the results showed he lost :p. Ditto on the fact that they have been underestimating the people's intelligence for far too long.

Maybe I shouldn't say this...since he's my "boss"...but I had hoped the minister od education had lost or at least replaced.

Tonnes of assignments? Life must be beautiful! LoL...i've been seeing the same thing too lately. Its like the air I breathe is so polluted with assignments that it becomes suffocating at times...
